Our story

From Joburg, with love

Our story began in Johannesburg, rooted in friendship. That friendship has been the thread that has kept us connected through every chapter — through time, distance and life’s unexpected turns — and is the foundation on which we build everything that comes next.

A proposal among rose petals and candlelight in Santorini brought us here — to a new chapter on the shores of Mahé.

Thank you for making the journey to celebrate with us. We are so grateful to share this moment with the people who matter most to us.

With love,
Yastil & Meshkaya

Getting there

Travel & Accommodation

Getting to Mahé
Fly into Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) on Mahé. Direct and one-stop flights are available from most major hubs including Johannesburg, Dubai and London.
🏛
The venue
Kempinski Seychelles Resort
Baie Lazare, Mahé Island

Set on the pristine shores of Baie Lazare, the Kempinski is one of the Seychelles’ finest luxury resorts — with a private beach, multiple restaurants and bars, an overwater spa, and lush tropical gardens. It is the perfect setting to extend your stay and make a holiday of it.

We recommend staying on-site or nearby. Book early — November is peak season.
Getting around
Taxis and car hire are available at SEZ airport — the drive to Baie Lazare is approximately 35–40 minutes along the scenic west coast road. Please note there is no Uber in the Seychelles, so we recommend booking a taxi in advance. Airport transfers are for guests’ own account.

Not staying at the Kempinski? We will arrange and cover your transport to and from the venue on the wedding day — just let us know in your RSVP.
The weather
Late November is early northwest monsoon — warm and tropical (27–30°C), with light breezes and mostly clear evenings. Perfect for an outdoor ceremony.

Good to know

Children & families
Children are warmly welcome at our wedding — please ensure you include them in your RSVP as guest numbers are fixed and we need an accurate headcount.

Kempinski Kids Club — Ages 4–12 · Open 08:00–18:00. Includes a paddling pool and supervised activities. Complimentary for in-house guests. Children under 4 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

We recommend contacting the resort directly when booking to confirm Kids Club availability over the weekend.
Currency & payments
The local currency is the Seychellois Rupee (SCR), though US Dollars and Euros are widely accepted at hotels, restaurants and shops. Major credit cards are accepted at the Kempinski and most establishments.

There is an ATM on-site at the resort, however the hotel recommends bringing US Dollars or Euros in cash as currency exchange will cost less than ATM withdrawals. Handy for taxi fares and smaller purchases around the island.

Things to do in the Seychelles

If you are making a holiday of it — and we strongly encourage you to — here are some of our favourite things to do on and around Mahé.

🏖
Anse Intendance — Mahé
Consistently rated the most beautiful beach on Mahé. Wild, unspoiled white sand with dramatic waves and stunning views. A short drive from the Kempinski along the southwest coast. Best visited in the morning. November is an ideal time — calm waters and soft light.
Island hopping — Praslin & La Digue
Rated by travellers as the highlight of any Seychelles trip. Praslin is home to Anse Lazio — one of the world’s finest beaches — and the UNESCO-listed Vallée de Mai forest. La Digue is the most photogenic of the islands, with the iconic Anse Source d’Argent framed by giant granite boulders. Both are accessible by ferry or private boat from Mahé.
🌿
Vallée de Mai, Praslin
A UNESCO World Heritage Site described by travellers as “unlike anything else on earth”. An ancient forest of Coco de Mer palms — home to the world’s largest seed — with endemic birds and an atmosphere that feels primeval. A must-do if you visit Praslin.
🤿
Snorkelling & diving
The Kempinski has a 5-star PADI dive centre on-site. The waters around Mahé are exceptional — turtles, rays, reef sharks and vibrant coral are commonly spotted. For snorkellers, Anse Royale and Beau Vallon offer easy access to colourful shallow reefs. Reviewers consistently call it “the best snorkelling they’ve ever experienced”.
🥾
Anse Major hike
One of the most rewarding hikes in the Seychelles, through Morne Seychellois National Park to a remote, completely secluded beach. The trail takes about an hour each way through lush jungle with panoramic views. Reviewers call it “10/10” and “an absolute highlight.” Bring water — there are no facilities at the beach.
🚁
Helicopter sightseeing
One of the most spectacular ways to experience the archipelago. Scenic helicopter flights depart from the Kempinski’s own helipad, offering sweeping views over the granite peaks, turquoise lagoons and outer islands. A truly unforgettable experience and worth every penny.
🥃
Takamaka Rum Distillery
A highly rated half-day excursion just a short drive from Baie Lazare. Tour the distillery, learn the story of Seychellois rum, and enjoy a tasting in a lush tropical setting. Visitors consistently rate it as one of the best cultural experiences on the island — relaxed, informative and fun.
🏙
Victoria & the Botanical Gardens
The world’s smallest capital is full of character — explore the colourful market, sample Creole street food, and browse the local craft stalls. The nearby Botanical Gardens are home to giant Aldabra tortoises, rare palms and vibrant orchids. A great half-day from the resort.
🎨
Michael Adams Art Gallery
Set in the jungle a short drive from the Kempinski, the studio-gallery of one of the Seychelles’ most celebrated artists is a hidden gem. Beautifully atmospheric, with vivid works inspired by the island’s landscapes and wildlife. Well worth a visit for art lovers and non-art lovers alike.
🌊
Beau Vallon Beach
The most popular and lively beach on Mahé — wide, calm and family-friendly, with excellent conditions for swimming year-round. A string of beach bars and restaurants line the shore, making it ideal for a relaxed afternoon. Reviewers love it for its easy, unpretentious atmosphere.
